Church Family News 10.05.26

Dear Friends,

How does the gospel (the good news about Jesus) spread & grow from 120 believers, camped in an upper room, to the 2.4 billion Christians in the world today?

Well we are about to find out as we embark on our new sermon series through the book of Acts. It’s a story with earthquakes, imprisonments, shipwrecks, and most of all, it’s the story of what God continues to do in the world through his Spirit, Word, and Church.

The Forwards have a family wedding this weekend, so we will be sad to miss you. But Andy Beattie is going to kick us off with Acts 1:1-11 - please have a read through beforehand if you get the chance. And I’m delighted to say that Revd. Jacob Harrison, the Chaplain at Cranleigh School, will lead our 10am communion service.

We meet twice this coming Sunday morning in Alfold Church.

  • 8.30am | BCP Morning Prayer

  • 10am | Family Communion | with Kid’s groups and followed by coffee.

Everyone is welcome & we’d love to see you there!

With love in Christ,

Revd. James Forward

Vision & Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) 17th May

The date for our church APCM is set for Sunday 17th May in Loxwood Church. The meeting will begin a few minutes after the 10am service ends (So at approximately 11.30am). This is our one, whole-church ‘business’ meeting of the year, and is an important chance for us to reflect back on and give thanks to God for all that happened in 2025, and look to the year ahead. It is also the chance to elect who will represent and lead us on PCC in the years to come. If you are a member of the church, please come along. And if you want to vote, please do fill out an Electoral Roll form at the back of church. APCM Report packs will be available in Church soon for prior reading.

Little Angels

Is a group for parents and toddler to come & play, have fun, sing songs, learn about God, and make new friends. It meets every Thursday in Loxwood Church 10-11.30am. All are welcome!

Pilgrim Groups

Pilgrim Groups are a place of deeper fellowship, where we support one another in prayer, and go deeper into God's word together. If you are not already in a Pilgrim Group and would like to join one, please email Richard Allan or speak to him in church. richard@alflox.org

Prayer Central

Our 1st Wednesday of the month Prayer Meeting is coming up next on Wednesday 3rd June. We will meet in Alfold Church Room. We meet at 7.30pm for refreshments, 8pm to sing and pray, and we always finish by 9pm. There is never an obligation to pray out loud. God hears the prayer of our hearts just as well! Please do join us.

Year of Prayer

Psalm 127 says ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain.’ Monday Morning | Alfold or Loxwood Church Room | 9am-Midday | Drop in Drop Out | Come and pray for God to build.

**Please note** we don’t meet this week - Monday 11th May, or on the Bank Holiday 25th May.

Loxwood Fete Help

With the warmer weather, our minds soon turn towards the summer, and to Loxwood Fete on the 6th June! As ever we want to be a visible and helpful presence in our villages, and so we need your help manning the Church stall and the (unpopular with me) Soak the Vicar stand. Pop me an email if you can lend a hand! james@alflox.org
