Church Family News 21.09.25

Dear Friends,

Thank you for joining me over on the website!

As you will have seen in my email, we are going to put the weekly Church Family News on here from now on. This can be your one-stop-shop for all things A&L! Hopefully it will make things easier to read and easier to find.

There is lots going on at church in the coming weeks. Please remember to sign up for the Vision Dinner on the 26th Sept. This coming Sunday is the final chance to book your place. Please could I also ask you to pray for upcoming Harvest celebrations with Little Harriers Nursery and Loxwood Primary School.

We’d love to invite you to join us at church this coming Sunday! We have a baptism at the 10am service, so please come and welcome the newest member of the church family. And Andy Beattie will be preaching for us from Colossians 1:24-2:5, helping us to think about the goal of gospel ministry.

We meet twice this coming Sunday in Loxwood Church…

  • 8:30am - BCP Holy Communion

  • 10:00am - Family Worship & Baptism, with groups for the kids, and followed by refreshments.

We’d love to see you there!

With love in Christ,

Revd. James Forward

Vision Dinner

Please remember to sign up to the  A&L Vision Dinner on Friday 26th September @ 7.30pm in Loxwood's North Hall. It will be a fun evening of great food (courtesy of Marco Vettese) and time spent together. But it will also be an important evening as we take some time to share where the PCC prays the church will be going over the next 10 years, and for us each to reflect on how we can play our part in what God is doing in our church, in our lives, and in our villages. The cost for the meal is £5, payable on the evening. It's BYOB! You can sign up at the back of church on Sunday, or by emailing Emily office@alflox.org  . And if cost would prevent you from coming, please email me in confidence.

Harvest Collection

With our Harvest Celebration coming up on Sunday 12th of October, our annual harvest collection is an opportunity to give thanks to God for all his provision, by donating food that will go to those who really need it. Donations can be left at the back of either church, and then will be taken over to Cranleigh Food Bank. If you're not sure what to donate, you can see requested items here www.cranleighfoodbank.org/donations and please make sure that all perishables will still be in date by the end of October.

Year of Prayer

Psalm 127 says ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain.’ Monday Morning | Loxwood Church Room | 9am-Midday | Drop in Drop Out | Come and pray for God to build.

Pilgrim Groups

Are up and running again in September. As in previous terms, we will follow the church's sermon series with Paul's Epistle to the Colossians. These groups are a place of deeper fellowship, where we support one another in prayer, and explore in more detail God's word. If you are not already in a Pilgrim Group and would like to join one, please do e-mail Richard or speak to him in church. richard@alflox.org

Men’s Brekkie

Bishop Peter Hancock, the former bishop of Bath and Wells, will be speaking at the Men's Breakfast on Saturday 20th September in the Onslow Arms; 8.30am for coffee and full English. Cost: £10. Sign up sheet at the back of church - or email Andy Beattie andy@alflox.org

Women’s Breakfast

It is a time to get together, enjoy a delicious continental breakfast with unlimited tea and coffee and listen to gifted speakers talk about a variety of different subjects.

The next breakfast will be on Saturday 18th October. We are welcoming Louise Davies who will be speaking to us about 'Journeying with The Waymaker'.

The cost is £7.00 per person.  We accept cash or card payment on the door.

Discover

Discover resumes again on Monday 8th Sept. Have you ever taken the time to discover what Jesus actually said about himself? Come and join us in a relaxed setting as we take a closer look. We meet in the Onslow on Monday nights and look through a bit of John's Gospel (which is a biography of Jesus' life) together. No question is silly or off limits. Everyone is welcome. If this could be right for you or a friend you know, drop me an email at andy@alflox.org Every Monday Night. 7.30-9pm. The Onslow Arms.
