Church Family News 28.09.25
Dear Friends,
The world’s biggest tree is General Sherman. A Giant Sequoia found in California. It measures 83 meters tall, and is 7.7meters in diameter.
How does a tree get to be that big? The answer is simple! By staying in the same place.
That is the theme of our service on Sunday. Stay rooted in the gospel! Paul writes to Colossians “Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him.” Colossians 2v6&7.
That is what Richard Allan will be preaching on, with the encouragement that the way into the Christian life is the way on. That the fullest Christian life isn’t gained by moving on from the gospel, but by growing deeper roots into it.

We meet twice this coming Sunday in Alfold Church. Looking together at Colossians 2:6-15…
8:30am - BCP Holy Communion
10:00am - Family Worship with groups for the kids, and followed by refreshments.
We’d love to see you there!
With love in Christ,
Revd. James Forward

Vision Dinner
The Vision Dinner is happening tonight (26th) at 7.30pm in Loxwood’s North Hall. If you couldn’t make it, I will be recording the talk, and making the new Vision Card available online in the coming weeks.
Please pray for a real unity and clarity for us as a church, as we consider where we want to go in the next 10 years!
Andy Beattie’s Ordination
Please join us in praying for Andy Beattie, with his ordination coming this Sunday at 3pm in Guildford Cathedral. There is a good crowd of us heading up there to support him! Pray for God to supply all he needs for his new role!
If you want to read the story of how Andy came to this moment, you can do so here.
Prayer Central
Our 1st Wednesday of the month Prayer Meeting is coming up this week on Wednesday 1st September. We will meet in Loxwood Church Room. We meet at 7.30pm for refreshments, 8pm to sing and pray, and we always finish by 9pm. There is never an obligation to pray out loud. God hears the prayer of our hearts just as well! Please do join us.
Harvest Collection
With our Harvest Celebration coming up on Sunday 12th of October, our annual harvest collection is an opportunity to give thanks to God for all his provision, by donating food that will go to those who really need it. Donations can be left at the back of either church, and then will be taken over to Cranleigh Food Bank. If you're not sure what to donate, you can see requested items here www.cranleighfoodbank.org/donations and please make sure that all perishables will still be in date by the end of October.
Year of Prayer
Psalm 127 says ‘Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labour in vain.’ Monday Morning | Loxwood Church Room | 9am-Midday | Drop in Drop Out | Come and pray for God to build.

Discover
Discover resumes again on Monday 8th Sept. Have you ever taken the time to discover what Jesus actually said about himself? Come and join us in a relaxed setting as we take a closer look. We meet in the Onslow on Monday nights and look through a bit of John's Gospel (which is a biography of Jesus' life) together. No question is silly or off limits. Everyone is welcome. If this could be right for you or a friend you know, drop me an email at andy@alflox.org Every Monday Night. 7.30-9pm. The Onslow Arms.
